FortisBC – Okanagan line construction services agreement

The Project

The Okanagan Line Construction Services Agreement is a multi-year contract to provide distribution overhead, underground and secondary service work within designated regions of Fortis country in the Okanagan area of British Columbia. The work involved in distribution construction broadly includes the installation, removal and maintenance of structures, conductors, and other distribution apparatus. It also includes the associated preparation and ground work required to install and upgrade distribution facilities. Categories of work include planned, short cycle, and time sensitive (TSS) work.

Challenges

Some challenges for Allteck crews include the diverse terrain, ranging from city streets and busy highways to the uneven landscape of the Okanagan.

Specialized Work Methods

FortisBC often requires that the power stay on while work is conducted. The method used by FortisBC to complete energized work consists of the use of specialized non-conductive rubber gloves and accompanying procedures. Allteck has expertise in the safe use and implementation of these tools and procedures.
