MoTI Hwy 97 Widening Project at Sugar Cane

The Project

Allteck is relocating approximately 7kms of 25KV 3 Phase feeder line on 25F66 WLM in conjunction with the Ministry of Transportations (MoTI) Hwy 97 widening project at Sugar Cane Reserve just east of Williams Lake BC. The relocation of this section of line is to improve accessibility to structures and provide joint use poles for both Telus and Shaw.  Once completed and energized, the old aging section of 25KV powerline with obsolete 60KV overbuild will be removed.

The Challenges:

Most of the new poles being installed are located on new cuts or fills which has resulted in a considerable amount of coordination with MoTI General Contractor (Cantex) in order for Allteck to the required work.

Specialized Work Methods:

Allteck has been working closely with the Williams Lake Indian Band (WLIB) and Sugar Cane Archeology given the number of known and unknown arch sites being found throughout this project. All on reserve conventional excavation being completed by our First Nations Contractor is closely monitored by cultural and/ or archeological monitors from Sugar Cane Archeology.
