WHAT IS THE PLAY PROGRAM?

The Promoting Life-skills in Aboriginal Youth (PLAY) program partners with 88 First Nations communities and urban Aboriginal organizations across Canada to deliver safe, fun and educational programming for Aboriginal children and youth. Each uniquely tailored play-based program is designed to enhance educational outcomes, improve peer-to-peer relationships, increase employability and improve physical and mental health amongst Aboriginal children and youth.

“Being raised in small town northern BC, this cause is close to my heart.  Indigenous youth are part of my childhood, my friends, my current business partners, and they are critical for the future of Canada.  I’m honoured to support such an important cause and it confirms our commitment to support our Indigenous communities.”

ALLTECK IS HONOURED TO HELP BRING “PLAY” TO BRITISH COLUMBIA

Since 2014 Allteck and Right To Play have met with funders, implementing partners, and communities in BC in order to expand the PLAY program.  With the generous support of Microsoft, Suncor Energy Foundation, and Cenovus: Right To Play and Allteck were able to complete the design and development phase for expansion of PLAY in British Columbia and Alberta.  We are happy to announce that for the 2015-2016 year, PLAY will reach children and youth in 26 partner communities and urban organizations across British Columbia and Alberta.

This equals more than 3,800 youth in partnership with 88 First Nation communities and urban Aboriginal organizations across Canada.  As a result of the positive impact, the program has been endorsed by national First Nations leadership, and the Assembly of First Nations recently passed a resolution recognizing the value of PLAY at their December 17, 2015 gathering.

“I am extremely pleased to see that the Chiefs in Assembly are focusing on the health and well-being of First Nations youth, and are supportive of the PLAY program currently under way across Canada. I fully support organizations that work closely with our communities to build partnerships and develop effective programming to benefit our youth.  Right To Play is having and will continue to have a positive impact on our youth and our communities.”
